The ‘’adventure’’ of the plate.

Caroline Armington recorded in her Etching Record Books that Print No 55/100 of this etching was sold to Mrs. Alden Scott Boyer to present with the plate, which was not crossed, to a college for advanced students. The Principia, St Louis.

The plate were purchased by Mrs. Alden Scott Boyer for donation to The Principia College in St. Louis.

In 2019 Mrs. Melody Hauf-Belden, Principia Archivist, Special Collections Librarian was contacted about it and she answered that she could not find any trace of this donation and that, most likely, it was not made. This is despite the fact that she had found the records for the donation of some Japanese prints made by Mrs. Alden Scott Boyer.

In 2019, Mrs. D. T. of Wildwood, MO found it in a large antique/thrift mall in St. Louis County and purchased it.

In 2026 she sold it to a Montreal collector.
