Surprisingly the etching dedicated ‘’ A la Bibliothèque Nationale’’ is not in the Bnf collection but in the PAMA collection.
Julia Curtiss Shellabarger (who would later become Julia Shellabarger Porter) was a prominent, American socialite from a wealthy Midwestern milling family.
Born in Salina, Kansas, in 1899, Julia was the daughter of Fred David Shellabarger, whose family founded and ran the highly successful Shellabarger Milling Company.
She was exceptionally well-educated for a young woman of the era. She had attended both the University of Kansas and the prestigious Sorbonne University in Paris, France
In 1926, she officially immigrated or relocated to San Francisco, California, a move heavily documented in her personal travel and residency history

Shortly after this period, on February 8, 1928, Julia married Joseph Franklin Porter Jr. in San Francisco. Her husband was the son of the president of the Kansas City Light and Power Company. Following a month-long honeymoon in Honolulu, Hawaii, they settled into the Hyde Park Hotel in Kansas City, Missouri, where Julia lived out much of her adult life as a prominent community figure. She passed away in 1985 at the age of 86
