The American-Swedish News Exchange was established by the Sweden-America Foundation in Stockholm in 1921 and the agency opened its office in New York City in 1922. ASNE's main purpose was to increase and broaden the general knowledge about Sweden and to provide the American press with news on cultural, economic and political developments in Sweden.

Catherine Dunlop MacKenzie (often spelled Mac Donald / MacDonald in early regional records) was the Canadian writer and publicity figure. Born in Baddeck, Nova Scotia in 1894, she relocated permanently to New York City in 1929 where she was hired to write a high-profile series of publicity articles for the government of Nova Scotia.
In 1929 Caroline Armington recorded in her Sales book that she sold this print and another one of Sweden to Mrs. Walker Rogers for 900 f.
