Caroline Armington recorded in her Sales book that she sold this print and six other prints of Sweden to Consul Carl Ekman for 480 Kronen.

Consul Carl Ekman of Visby (1868–1954)

Carl Ekman was a highly influential businessman, politician, and diplomat based on the island of Gotland.

He served concurrently as the German Consul (appointed 1901) and the German/Dutch Consul (appointed 1920) in Visby.

He was the CEO of the major shipping line Ångfartygs AB Gotland, Chairman of AB Gotlands Bank, and a long-time local politician in Visby.
